I’m Andrea Howard. I'm a wife, mother of twins, and I live in the Nashville, TN area.
If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be a ‘teacher.’ In Kindergarten, I wanted to be an art teacher…so that’s what I did. I currently teach art to high school students as a full-time profession. I know what you’re thinking. In the South, here’s where you say, “Bless your heart!” But, let me be the first to tell you that my students are amazing…well, most of them. Really and truly, they have made me a better teacher and a better person. I enjoy sharing their journey of uncovering technique, conceptual ideas and creativity. Art is a love that I wish to share with any listener. Whether it be painting, drawing, photography, fashion, or the landscapes we inhabit-it’s all art and seeing it as such is truly magic for the soul.
Over the years, I have found that I don’t just love to teach art, I also love to teach wellness. The birth of my twins commenced an obsession with learning how to care for our bodies in the most pure, unadulterated way. I began to do research and eventually found myself completing a two-year Holistic Wellness course from Vintage Remedies School of Natural Health. I studied topics ranging from food to aromatherapy to alternative and aromatic medicine. I have been applying my knowledge and pursuing wellness ever since. I don’t claim to be an expert in anything. In fact, I’m far from it. I’ve gone through the real struggles of knowing what’s right and doing what’s easy. My diet has ranged from eating out too much and over-indulging in processed, sugary treats to drinking kombucha and eating kale. Health is a journey, it has ups and downs and it’s not meant to go it alone. I will share what I’ve learned and seek knowledge from those who have gone before me.
And finally, I am a fitness teacher. I have engaged in some type of workout for as long as I can remember. It started with tennis in high school. In college, I found running. I set a new PR in my last half marathon. I never thought I could run that far, but I did. Two years ago, I discovered Barre, which happens to combine my other loves of yoga and pilates. Hello, legs! I loved it so much that I am now an Advanced Level Certified BarreAmped Instructor. I teach part-time and I love bringing the shake! And most recently, I discovered a love for Beachbody fitness programs. In just three weeks of doing 21 Day Fix, I lost 11 lbs. and almost 6 inches from my hips and waist! This program brought it full circle for me. It taught me portion control, the proper balance of foods, and short consistent workouts that I can manage with my busy lifestyle. It also introduced me to a sense of community where I could find support, accountability, and motivation on my fitness journey. Boom! That equals results! This inspired me to take the natural next step and become a coach for Beachbody. This opportunity allows me to teach others about making healthy choices, doing fitness together, and hitting goals. It gives me accountability for my own fitness goals and let’s me pay it forward, win-win!
I created this site to share my story on the pursuit of wellness and invite you along. I am working on becoming my best me and to live out my purpose. I haven’t figured it out yet, but I know this life was meant to be lived together. It is my hope that through my eclectic musings on fine art and holistic living, that you will find a little or a lot of yourself as we navigate the journey together.
